Welcome To Codsall Cricket Club - 2009

Thank you for visiting our site, where throughout the year we shall strive to keep you all informed and updated with the goings-on here at Codsall.

2008 saw a huge leap of faith on the playing front with the successful launch of a Codsall Cricket Club 3rd XI, playing on Saturday afternoons. This allowed many junior players a taste of adult league cricket under the careful watch of some knarled old pros. The first XI flirted with relegation but remained in division 2. The second XI had a mixed season in division 3a. The junior squads again performed exceptionally well against established opposition and are starting to get right up the noses of the 'bigger' clubs.

2009 brings more challenges than last year. The first XI will have to find somebody (anybody) who knows which end of the bat to hold. The second XI have to work out a plan for escape from division 3a. Consistency would be a start. The third XI need to push on in division 5, making sure that the junior starlets learn to play league cricket higher up the divisions over the next few seasons.

Several new changes to the committee have already taken place and the new incumbents are bedding down to the tasks in hand. Our thanks go to those who leave active service.

Finally for now - playing staff, the lifeblood of any club. Of course there are always the regulars, both in junior and senior teams, but with three league sides to put out each week and junior matches throughout the season new players are always most welcome to join. Don't be shy about contacting us and most definitely don't worry about whether you are good enough. If you can hold a bat, bowl a ball straight for approximately 18 yards and stop a ball that is near to you, we may just be the club you are looking for.

The junior side of the club is blossoming with all age groups catered for. Coaches are ECB accredited and fully CRB checked.
